Happy Halloween! – Memories Of Halloweens PastWritten by Dawn Summer in Diary
First and foremost: Happy Halloween! As all the rest of you celebrate your creepy fun, I’ll unfortunately be working. My boss isn’t real big on celebrating a lot of holidays. That said, Halloween definitely remains one of my favorite! I get to dress however I want, and no one bats an eyelash, except maybe to complement my ‘costume’. If only they knew 😉
My Happy Halloween Celebration
Since the opportunity to celebrate escaped me this year, I want to share some of my fondest memories.
When I was little, my mom would dress me as a clown every Halloween. I always complained that clowns weren’t scary at all! As I grew up, I realized that while clowns don’t bother me, they scare a lot of others for some reason. So thanks to my mom, I have a very good grasp on clowning around!
My very first homemade Halloween costume was a pirate. I thought they were so cool! The costume was a red striped second hand shirt, a pair of cut off jeans, and a little cap pistol. My thoughtful mom let me borrow an eye patch, and drew a mustache on my upper lip. I didn’t scare much of anyone then either.
After my fourteenth birthday, I wanted to dress up as a magician. At first my parents were very against it, believing that I was talking about devil worshiping. But after I gave them a little show, they allowed me to not only dress up, but to perform. I helped them make a little money to support the local boy scouts, and that brought smiles to a few faces.
Another costume that earned me loads of attention came after I began martial arts in college. I bought an actual ninja uniform, and made a little mask. The costume went over sensationally, and earned me the nickname ninja. The fact that I could do a little tumbling helped that along too.
What costumes do you remember wearing? Which ones were your favorite? I love reading your comments, so please feel free to leave them below. Also, if you’d like to contact me directly, you can at firstname.lastname@example.org. Happy Halloween! 😀
