Dawn Summer: Fitness Test On Hormones
So I decided to take a 500 Fitness test today to see where I was. I managed to complete 50 reps of 10 cardio exercises in 19 minutes and 33 seconds. That beats my personal record! I still feel more focused. At barely three weeks on hormones, not a lot of changes to report yet.
I decided to write this article because of a post I read about the effects of hormones on fitness. Before I get into that though, You can check out the fitness test I took:
- Burpees x 50
- Jumping Jacks x 50
- Mountain Climbers x 50
- Lunges x 50
- Bicycles x 50
- Push-ups x 50
- Squats x 50
- Crunches x 50
- Side Lunges x 50
- Bridges x 50
Time how long it takes you to finish!
Side Effects On A Fitness Test
Amelia, a transgendered runner, wrote about her experience with hormone replacement therapy (HRT), in a 2013 post about her 5k and marathon running. She went into great detail about how her body completely lost its ability to compete at the same level. Essentially, her lung capacity, and muscle mass both decreased substantially. At the same time, her bone density remained the same.
Amelia answered the question about transgendered competing in women’s events with a resounding yes! Apparently, hormones not only decrease the advantages of testosterone. Transgendered people have lower testosterone than female competitors! This means, that no matter how much training, women will always have the advantage over transgendered.
